Acapulco Bay hotels
Acapulco, Camping is available at two locations on Pie de la Cuesta, a nearly ten mile barrier beach north west of Acapulco off Route 200.
Another location southeast of the city near the airport is Diamante. These were once popular winter quarters for Canadian and American RVers.

Acapulco, the Pacific Coast Beach Resort on Mexico's Pacific Coast can be reached by bus from Pie de la Cuesta.
Daily bus service leaving every 15 minutes reaches downtown Acapulco's zocalo.
Acapulco's beaches, deep sea fishing and diving attract the beach goer while Acapulco's high rise hotels and the all night party scene attract young visitors, spring break crowds, and cruise ship passengers who come to resort city of Acapulco to vacation and party.
Acapulco's sheltered harbor was once the center of New Spain's trade with the Philippines and in turn much of Asia. Now it is a port of call for several cruise ship lines including Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises that sail the coast out of California.
Acapulco's famed cliff divers climb to this promontory and dive into the sea.
Acapulco, the Pacific Coast Beach Resort of Mexico offers historic tours of the Fort San Diego near the ship terminal for great views of the harbor.

Through Mexico City. From the USA, Atlanta Hartsfield (ATL) offers direct flights. Many other cities offer indirect flights. From Canada direct flight are offered from Toronto and Montreal. National direct flights serve from Mexico City, Monterrey, Toluca, and Tijuana, Mexico.
Long distance first class buses serve Acapulco on coast road Route 200 and from major cities on the new toll roads that connect all the coastal resorts. From Mazatlan, buses run south to Manzanillo, Puerto Valarta, Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, Lazaro Cardenas,and then to Acapulco and Puerto Escondido,
First Class buses Estrella Blanca connect to Acapulco from Mexico City.
Estrella Blanca serves first class Futura Buses from Puerto Escondido in 8 hours.
Estrella de Oro first class Buses serve Acapulco from Mexico City Central Sur and Tapo Terminals. Estrella de Oro (The bus company websites don't function well enough to book tickets online. The buses rarely fill except at Christmas and Easter)

For RVers and Long Distance Bike Travelers Pie de la Cuesta, just north of the city on Route 200 offers camping on a five mile barrier beach area where you find beach resort campgrounds for tents and RVs. Local buses run every 10-20 minutes from the one main street to the city of Acapulco.
Acapulco offers the visitor many attractions, including history tours of Fort San Diego and sport fishing for Marlin, Sailfish, and Dorado from the sport fishing fleet located just north of the cruise ship terminal.
Harbor cruises and SCUBA dive boats leave from the same location.
Across the street from the sport fishing fleet you will find the Zocalo, the small main plaza where craft sales often take place and where nearby restaurants offer local seafood.
On the north end of the arcing beaches on the Bay of Acapulco, you find the cruise terminal and the fishing, tour and SCUBA dive boats. On the south end of the bay, you find the high rise hotels restaurants and beach-side clubs. You can bike or bus to any of these beaches. The road, however, is congested for bikers and it is better to go by the local bus from Pie de la Cuesta.
RV and Tent Camping is available for Long Distance Bike riders and Travelers just off Route 200 at this barrier beach that stretches for nearly ten miles along the coast. On the other side is the Coyuca Lagoon, a famous bird habitat that offers boat trips for wildlife viewing.
The name Pie de la Cuesta means at the foot of the slope. This is a nearly deserted Pacific Coast Beach compared to Acapulco's beaches.

There may be two seasons when the resort is most crowded. Christmas and Easter are traditional travel holidays for Mexican families and the proximity of Mexico City to Acapulco ( 240 miles ) means that the beach resorts could be crowded on these two holiday weeks. Mid July into the end of August can also be times of travel for Mexico City vacationers.
December through April is high season in Acapulco.
The weather in Acapulco is humid and warmest June through September. July and August bring rain showers, high humidity, and 90 degree days.
Year round temperatures average 85f days, 75f nights. Showers could come in any month but will be of short duration.
Hurricane season runs August to December.
Spring break might be in your planning. Acapulco allows 18 year olds to drink alcohol and the resorts have offered all inclusive packages including performance groups that attract US Spring breakers, usually in late February and all of March.
