Oaxaca's Beaches on the Pacific coast can be isolated beaches like the several in between the resort towns of Puerto Escondido in the north and the nine bays of Huatulco to the south. Zipolite and Puerto Angel among others.

Oaxaca's Zipolite Beach, Dawn Meditation

Beaches in Oaxaca Mexico range from the very rustic and
nearly deserted Zipolite to the well-developed and nearly deserted
beaches of Huatulco.
The exception might be at Christmas time when many Mexican
families leave the cities and head to the beach.
The other exception would be the beaches at Puerto Escondido
where surfers have made a legend of Zicatela Beach and the
Mexican Pipeline and it is there that the November surfing
championships are held.
Otherwise Oaxaca's marvelous beaches at Puerto Escondido,
Zipolite, Mazunte, Puerto Angel, and the 32 beaches of Huatulco are
rarely crowded.
Oaxaca's Pacific Coast Beaches
Oaxaca's Pacific Coast Beaches lack an infrastructure that can handle large numbers of people
and if they could there is still no easy way to get to most of the beaches on Oaxaca's Pacific Coast.
Oaxaca State's best known beaches Huatulco and Puerto Escondido have limited air service and the
mountains make a bus or auto trip from Oaxaca City an 8-hour ordeal for all but the dedicated traveler.
Oaxaca's
Pacific Coast
Beaches might be
in for a change. A
new highway from
Oaxaca City to the
Isthmus of
Tehuantepec will
change things in
2012 making
Huatulco a ten-hour
drive from Mexico
City and a
four-hour trip from
Oaxaca City.
For now, however,
Oaxaca's Pacific
Coast beaches are
a quiet paradise
were you can dine
on fresh grilled
Dorado beneath a
straw palapa and
then stretch a
hammock between
some palms for a
mid-day snooze.

and dorms for as little as $5 USD per day.
Oaxaca's Zipolite Beach can be reached by air from Oaxaca's airport (OAX) to Puerto Escondido
and then from bus southeast along the coast to Pochutla. and from there a short taxi ride.
First Class Bus service leaves the first class terminal in Oaxaca City for Huatulco's Beaches and then
Pochutla. (10 hours)
Second Class bus service leaves Oaxaca City's Second Class terminal and goes over the mountains to
Puerto Escondido or to Pochutla. (8 hours)
Van service makes a run to Pochutla. (6 hours)
The mountain driving can be tough on those prone to motion sickness, dramamine is recommended.
