Mount Rushmore In the Black Hills of South Dakota is a popular stop for sightseeing on the way to  Deadwood, Keystone or Bike Week in Sturgis
Interstate 90 travelers will find that sightseeing the Black Hills will be a good  diversion.
Campgrounds and RV parks in a rustic setting  are available at Spearfish Canyon
, 60 miles north.
Getting to Mount Rushmore: The nearest large city is Rapid City South Dakota. Air service reaches Rapid City from hubs in Denver and Chicago. Rental cars are available at the airport.
From Rapid City take Route 16 south and west to 16 A and Keystone and Rushmore  22 Miles.
Best Time To Visit Mount Rushmore South Dakota:  May to October   40 f at night 65 f days
The weather is perfect June, July, August .  Mt Rushmore is in the mountains at 5720 feet elevation ,    Cool in May and September,  Cold and winter snows October to April .  July and August can have thunderstorms with hail.  
Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota is a granite sculpture of four early United States Presidents.  Sixty foot- high sculptures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln were carved out of granite by Gutzon Gorglum and a crew of stone workers between 1927 and 1941.
The sculptures are at 5,720 feet elevation and accessible by road near the lively town of Keystone.
Two million people visit Mount Rushmore annually.
Keystone is a lively little town with many attractions including helicopter rides , horseback riding, camping, dining and lodging.

Mount Rushmore is about 50 miles from Sturgis SD and makes a good ride during August Bike Week.
Badlands National Park is a good day trip from Mount Rushmore  at 93 miles.
