This is not wilderness camping but the sites are spacious and well treed with pines.  Within a few miles of Shawme Crowell State Forest, you find the Cape Cod Canal with its 14 miles of paved trails running  beside the Canal.   Biking, walking, wheel chair, baby carriage, or roller blade, you have 14 miles of flat paved trail beside the Cape Cod Canal.  You can walk your bike over the Bourne or Sagamore bridge and reach Scusset Beach State Reservation and its campground.
You could drive over as well  and park near the cold water beach.  The fee for Shawme Crowell, $12 for residents of the State $15 for others, is applicable for parking at Scusset Beach. The boat action in the canal can provide some entertainment and the canal can provide some good striper fishing from the jetty and the banks.  This is salt water fishing where no license is required.  You will, however, need to observe length limits and bag limits.

Horseneck Beach State Park Campground is a great resource for travelers on the Coastal Villages Trail.  
Horseneck Beach State Park is great for car camping.  The sites at the shore line book fast .  The sites within the park are quiet and have picnic benches and fire pits. Horseneck Beach State Park is in an area of sand dunes where there are no shade trees.  Sand beaches are found to the right of the park along the paved trail
