visit to the carving village of Arrazola and the 16 Th Century monastery
at Cuilapan de Guerrero)

of Dainzu, Yagul, Lambityeco and Mitla)

shopping in the Artisan Village of Arrazola outside of Oaxaca City offers  Wood Carving of
colorful animals and fantastic creatures.  You can visit one of the 70  family's that work in
their homes and you can watch the artisans work on their hand made works of art

How to Get to Arrazola:
From Oaxaca City take the second class bus at the Centro station
four blocks south of the zocalo (not the Second Class Central
Station)
Get off at the crossroads to the town of Arrazola (five miles) and
take a crossroads collectivo to the center of the town  
Taxi from anywhere in the city $12.00 US
Collectivo from the station for collectivos near the Abastos
Market south of the zocalo. These
collective taxis make trips to
all the villages south and west of the city. The back seat is the
best to avoid being crowded.
Group Tours out of Oaxaca city usually cover the town of Arrazola,
the 16 th Century convent of Cuilapan, and the Market day at
Zaachila on Thursday
Private car out of Oaxaca City head towards  Xoxocotlan to the
south of the City, after Xoxocotlan watch for the turnoff for Arrazola
on your right side.

watch the carving take shape
Further south on Route 175,
