Gassing Up
Gassing your vehicle is similar to the procedure in the US including the self service feature, automatic shut off pumps, and the use of the credit card. Diesel is common in France and called Gazoil.

Take a ticket when entering and insert it into the machine when leaving. It will tally the cost and you pay with coin or credit card. Insert the ticket in the gate as you leave. At others you prepay and leave the ticket on the dashboard so that the attendant can see it.

Stock up on  water, food, a thermos of coffee, and gas before taking a trip and save money and time.  There are few convenience strip malls in Provence.
Renting an RV in Europe is a simple process. Several cities have wide assortments of Diesel models. They are smaller than the usual Canada or US model.  Shopping on line well in advance can give you the best options. The ability to drive a standard shift will be a consideration.

  • Rental RV, France
Rental RVs are on the small side in France because the country roads and village streets are often narrow.  You can rent an RV in France and vacation in many regions including the Rhone River Delta where the land flattens and becomes the sandy desert of the Camargue and camping is allowed on the beach.
  • Caravan
The camping vehicle in France is known as the Caravan, or  Campercar.

Many Caravans are on the road during mid June, July, and August  for the long summer vacation.

May/June and September/October  will be less crowded
