Visiting The Oaxaca Ruin Sites

Nine ruin sites within 40 miles of the City of Oaxaca are open for visits.  Several of the ruin sites can be reached by public bus.

Monte Alban Ruin Site is reached by public bus from the City of Oaxaca

   Ruin Sites East Of Oaxaca, Bus

To bus or taxi colectivo to the archaeological site east of Oaxaca City go to the baseball park at the Volkswagon dealer and take a Mitla bus, Tlacolula bus, or Teotitlan de Vale bus.  Collective taxis also turn at that corner and take Route 190 southeast for the valley where you find the archaeological sites of Dainzu, TeoTitlan Del Valle Lambityeco, Yagul, and Mitla.

Go to the colectivo stop at Abastos Market for sites west of the city

Reach The Archaeological Sites Near Oaxaca City, Mexico

For the Monte Alban Archaeological site go to 501 Mina Street (calle Mina) on the west side of the city for the Autobuses Turisticos Bus that runs on the half hour with eight trips daily for 50 Pesos. (Four blocks south, four blocks west of the Zocalo)
For the Atzompa, San Jose Mogote, and Huijazoo Sites go to the collective taxi station near the Abastos Market.
