At the Eastern End of the Cape Cod Canal, the trail starts at  Scusset Beach
The canal trail runs along side the navigable channel and ends in Buzzards Bay at the west end. Three free parking lots are available, one near the Sagamore Bridge, One at the Herring Run Park, and one near Buzzards Bay   below the railroad bridge
Free parking at both sides of the canal give good access to nearly 14 miles of paved bike trails along the Cape Cod Canal

Cape Cod Canal Bicycle Trail on the Eastern End of the Canal
You can walk your bike over the Sagamore Bridge to use the bike trail on the opposite shore.
Free Parking, Bike Trail Self Guided, several maps along the way, Bicycling on Cape Cod Canal Trails that run for nearly 14 miles the north and south sides of the Canal.  Walkways on both bridges make it possible to do the entire 14 miles.
A large free parking lot on the north side of the west end, near the railroad bridge is the best bet for RV parking
The paved bike trail runs for 6.6 miles on the South side of the Cape Cod Canal and 7.1 miles on the North side.
These paved trails are flat and safe off-road biking, great for family biking,
roller blading, walking, dog walking, wheel chair or baby carriage.
Free parking
at lots along the way make it easy for those that want a short trip. Large rig parking is best at the west end, north side near the railroad bridge in Buzzards Bay or at the East end visitors center on the south side at the overflow parking lot. ( parking beside Joes Lobster Mart near the marina) Paid parking is available for large rigs at wast end at Scusset Beach State Park where there is a cold-water ocean beach at the east end of the bike trail.  
For beginning bikers, note the wind direction as you start out. If it is at your back you will feel like Lance Armstrong on the way out but coming back will be another story. Don't go too far on your first trip.
Both the Bourne Bridge on the west end of the canal and the Sagamore Bridge on the east end have sidewalks on one side where you can walk your bike over the canal to ride both sides.  
The Sagamore Bridge in the distance has a walkway accessed from the Friendlys Shop/ Park and Ride area on the north side or from the Christmas Tree Shop on the south side of the canal.

From Boston take
Route 93 to Route 3 and after 60 miles, cross the Cape Cod Canal. Continue on Route 6 for all locations on Cape Cod or go to Route 6A for the slower scenic route through the villages. Routes 6 and 6A join in Orleans and go to the tip of Cape Cod.
Several small
commuter airlines serve Hyannis Airport and Provincetown Airport on Cape Cod from Boston, Providence, and New Bedford.   Cape Air, US Airways Express, and Linear Air (Hanscom Field Bedford Ma)
Bus service is available from Boston and from Logan Airport. Plymouth and Brockton, Logan Direct serves Hyannis
Bonanza Bus Lines serves Bourne, Falmouth, and the Wood's Hole ferry from Logan Airport
Passenger Boats  leave daily from Boston to the tip of Cape Cod (May -September)   at Provincetown.
Bicycles can go aboard.
A fast cat boat and a slower conventional passenger boat make trips from Boston. Bicycles permitted
A
passenger boat makes a daily run from Plymouth, MA to Provincetown.
What is Cape Cod
Fifteen large towns and many small villages make up Cape Cod.

Upper Cape: Along the Cape Cod Canal, the towns of Bourne and Sandwich define the northern limit of the upper Cape  
Mid Cape includes Barnstable, Yarmouth and Dennis. The mid Cap is where you will find Hyannis Airport
Lower Cape includes Brewster, Harwich, and Chatham.
Outer Cape starts in Orleans and includes Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown.
